There are a few trains from Bristol Temple Meads to London Waterloo but they take a great deal of time compared with the main route to Paddington. Waterloo trains stop at Bath Spa, Bradford Upon Avon,Trowbridge., Westbury,Warminster,Salisbury, Andover, Basingstoke, Woking, Clapham Junction and Waterloo

First Great Western main line trains stop at Bath Spa, Chippenham, Swindon, Didcot (certain services only), Reading and Paddington www.firstgreatwestern.co.uk

Trains from Bristol Temple Meads go to Paddington, not Waterloo. You would then need the tube to get to Waterloo. Where the train stops can vary quite a bit - you would have to look at the timetable to find out where your particular one will stop on the way - but typically a train from Bristol Temple Meads to Paddington would stop at some or all of Bath Spa, Chippenham, Swindon, Didcot Parkway and Reading.

Of course there are trains from Temple Meads to Waterloo - those who say there aren't obviously don't know as much as they think they do. On Saturdays, they leave Bristol TM at 1315 and 1554, and leave Waterloo at 1220 and 1920.

The 1315 calls at:

Bristol Temple Meads [BRI]

Bath Spa [BTH]

Bradford-on-Avon [BOA]

Trowbridge [TRO]

Westbury [WSB]

Warminster [WMN]

Salisbury [SAL]

Grateley [GRT]

Andover [ADV]

Whitchurch (Hampshire) [WCH]

Overton [OVR]

Basingstoke [BSK]

Farnborough (Main) [FNB]

Woking [WOK]

Surbiton [SUR]

New Malden [NEM]

Wimbledon [WIM]

Clapham Junction [CLJ]

London Waterloo [WAT]

I'd assume the other trains have the same stopping pattern.

None, since trains from Bristol Temple Meads go to London Paddington. Where the train stops will depend entirely on the service.

This depends on the time of day...

You can make your own route map in PDF:

http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/en/s/pockettimetable/search

Or view National Maps:

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/passenger_services/maps/

You will have to take either one or two trains depending on time of day; you may need to take the tube to Paddington.

If you are arriving in London (Heathrow) it might be easier (and a lot less expensive) for your boyfriend to take the direct bus service from Bristol to Heathrow, this is an express service, no stops. If you're not arriving in Heathrow, you could take the tube to Heathrow from Waterloo--a short journey.

Note: rdenig_male is NOT correct--there ARE stops between Bristol Temple Meads and London Waterloo... two in fact are Bristol Parkway and London Paddington... search the links I provided for the facts. They're not far from the boarding locations however which is why I suggested alternative methods of transportation...
